Chapel in the Gardens

The Chapel at Callaway Gardens is a lovely spot hidden in the woods at the edge of a small lake. It is popular with brides…and photographers. In my rendition the chapel is shown in the half light of a full moon, with the interior light causing its remarkable stained glass window to positively blaze with brilliant color.

It is springtime, and the trees are in full flower; they are reiterated by the abundant blooms in the small garden; the small pond reflects some elements of the charming scene.

The chapel and its surroundings are worked in mostly traditional canvaswork, with surface embroidery techniques used to create the flowers and foliage about the chapel. The design is worked in mostly DMC and Anchor flosses, with some metallic threads here and there for effect. This piece can be a lovely memento for those who have visited Callaway, or just a beautiful embroidery of a appealing scene.
